Computational Biology Application Suite for High Performance Computing
About
BioHPC
BioHPC is a suite of computational biology
applications adapted to high-performance computing environment with a
very easy to use, intuitive, web-based interface. It provides:
- Web-based, point-and-click access to a variety of bioinformatics
applications with the underlying structure of computational platform
transparent to the user
- Enhancement of standard applications through parallelization,
transparent to the user
- Integration and simplified access to geographically dispersed
hardware resources
- Web-based administration of users, jobs, applications, and
clusters within the suite
- Standardized access to and maintenance of bioinformatics
databases
- Next generation data management and distribution – from
sequencing facility to users.
- Next generation sequencing pipelines and applications – with
internal data management or optional external data upload
- Web services access allowing integration with external clients
like Perl scripts, MS Excel or Microsoft Biology Foundation (clients
are available)
BioHPC is designed to be operated by the users that are not
experienced in HPC, web servers, clusters and such. It can be installed
on a small scale cluster in a biological lab, and then provide easy
access via web interface for lab members. It can be installed in a large
infrastructure system (like in CBSU) and provide a portal for
integrating many different, sometimes geographically distant,
computational resources.
